Magic reportedly acquire Markelle Fultz from 76ers for Jonathon Simmons, multiple picks

We can't wait to see the two play together, although who knows when Fultz will actually be cleared to do so. At the time, the 19-year old Fultz set a record for youngest player in National Basketball Association history to record a triple-double.

The 76ers acquired Jonathan Simmons in the deal for Fultz along with a couple of draft picks and now have one of the more formidable lineups in the Eastern Conference.

Fultz's agent, Raymond Brothers, had told ESPN on Christmas Day that his client is progressing well in rehabilitation on his right shoulder and that he expects Fultz to return to the team this season. "To add a piece now, get ready for the playoffs and add some assets, a first-round pick and a high second-round pick, it just felt like the time to do it now".

Before worrying about that, though, the Sixers have more pressing matters to deal with - namely, sorting out how these players are going to fit together.

Whatever was going on in Philadelphia clearly wasn't working for him. Fultz was diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome, a condition that impacts the nerves between the neck and shoulder. "There's no question that it's a high reward", Weltman said.

Fultz has played in only 33 games since being taken No. 1 overall in the 2017 draft. In addition to posting a picture of a workout from last summer, Bamba jokingly chided Fultz for asking to stay at his Orlando condo while getting settled in the area. Players who are distracted off the court, Isaac noted, often struggle on it and he feels that very well could have been the case with a player a gifted as Fultz. I felt sad for that.

"For (Fultz), the big thing is just about getting back healthy, " Isaac said. All opinions expressed by John Denton are exclusively his own and do not reflect the opinions of the Orlando Magic or their Basketball Operations staff, partners or sponsors.
