Wells Fargo Suffers Second Online, Mobile Banking Outage This Month

The company made the announcement Thursday morning on Twitter, apologizing to customers who may be impacted.

On its Facebook page, Wells told customers late Thursday that the problems were "a contained issue affecting one of our facilities, and not due to any cybersecurity event or attack".

This is the second time in a week Wells Fargo has experienced technical issues.


Wells Fargo customers from all over the US have been reporting that multiple services offered by the multinational financial services company's banking branch, with credit cards, ATMs, money transfers, and the online banking system all being down for most clients. "We apologize for the inconvenience", it said.

Wells Fargo bank customers should be able to access their accounts again, after a major all-day meltdown on Thursday.

Angry customers took to Twitter to vent about the problems they encountered.


A television station in Montana reported the outage was related to a fire at a Wells Fargo srver farm in the Minneapolis suburb of Shoreview, MN.

Wells Fargo says workers discovered the problem following routine maintenance.

Even though customers can't access their money at the moment, they can rest assured that it's safe, as long as it's deposited in an FDIC-insured financial institution.


Wells Fargo, headquartered in San Francisco, is among the nation's largest banks.
