Following a controversy-filled Super Bowl halftime performance - although the performance itself worked hard to be uncontroversial - Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine posted a note on Instagram sharing his thoughts on the occasion.
When Hillenburg died, SpongeBob fan Isreal Colunga, created a Change.org petition to have "Sweet Victory" performed at the Super Bowl halftime show in his honor.
"Wow the highlight of Adam Levine's performance was definitely that his shirt looked exactly like pillows that an alarming amount of people happen to have from Target", one tweeter noted. "One Love", Levine wrote. Kaepernick has filed a lawsuit agains the NFL, claiming that they tried to lock him out from league after he repeatedly kneeled during pre-game playings of the U.S. national anthem as a protest against police brutality towards African Americans.
Kaepernick's subsequent treatment by the National Football League led to many A-list acts such as Jay-Z, Rihanna and Cardi B turning down the halftime-performance spot this year. Many others flat-out refused to watch the game, as reported by The Washington Post.
After much speculation and fan excitement, Sunday's Super Bowl LIII included a much-demanded SpongeBob SquarePants tribute during the half-time show.
Though many people were excited to see SpongeBob do a small rendition of "Sweet Victory" at half time, a lot of people wondered why he was there.
As you know by now, the band took over the field at the Super Bowl in Atlanta, Georgia earlier tonight but it seems like fans were more excited over a possible Spongebob appearance at the big event.
