It all started with a fun tweet from the Lexington Police Department about a Krispy Kreme truck that caught fire.

The investigation into the fire is ongoing as the cause is unknown. No one was hurt in the incident. The post is a nod to stereotype that law enforcement officers have an obsession with doughnuts.

"No words", the officers wrote. They shared the photos on Facebook as well.

The New York Police Department told the Kentucky officers in a tweet, "Hang tight, we are sending backup forthwith, and these guys came prepared". Stay strong guys; tough times don't last, tough cops do.

Chicago police wrote, "Condolences from Chicago". Prayers to LPD as they deal with this loss.

Krispy Kreme will deliver dozens of doughnuts to the police department Wednesday at 2 p.m.at East Sector Roll Coll on Centre Parkway, the company said Wednesday. Tuesday night, Madison Police wrote on Twitter, "We mourn with you".

Despite the loss, Krispy Kreme assured the officers that sweeter times were on the horizon.
