The film opened to a total of Rs. 20.14 crores on day one and slipped to Rs. 18. Despite having zero competition at the box office, the SRK's solo movie released this week failed to generate great business.
However, SRK continues to remain positive, and graciously thanked all those who reviewed his film Zero. However, it was shocking that Khan's presence in the film did not lead to an increase in footfall over Saturday and Sunday.
The year 2018 was a roller-coaster ride for the Bollywood film industry. Shah Rukh, in his movie Zero, made a comeback after the gap of nearly one and a half year. However, given that Zero released during the holiday season, it was expected to do better business.
Trade website Box Office India said the unimpressive opening wasn't a surprise considering Zero isn't big on massy genres like action or comedy. Shah Rukh is caught in a love triangle with Aafia (played by Anushka Sharma), who is a NASA scientist with cerebral palsy and Babita Kumari (played by Katrina Kaif), who is a glamorous Bollywood actress struggling with alcoholism issues.
"Zero", which stars Shah Rukh Khan as a vertically challenged man, hit theatres on Friday. The film is presented by Red Chillies Entertainment and Colour Yellow Productions, which is bankrolled by Gauri Khan and helmed by the ace director Aanand L Rai.
