Added current Wisconsin head coach Paul Chryst of Meyer, "Obviously I have a lot of respect for what he's done".
Urban Meyer is retiring. "That's the problem. He said if I can't coach like I need to coach, then I'm not going to coach".
Some football fans are already speculating that Meyer could be eyeing a job with another program, but according to one of his former players, Meyer's health won't allow him to return to the sideline in the near future.
"I didn't know much about him at first, but he was really open with me and my family and was up front about the program and what we would be getting into", Wilson said earlier this season.
Nathan Meyer, the youngest child who plays baseball at the University of Cincinnati.
But his time away from the game of football didn't last long when he was contacted about the opening at Ohio State.
Brown was coach at Texas for 16 years and there were times he expected to face Meyer's Florida teams in national championship games.
His last game with OSU is the Rose Bowl against Washington on New Year's Day. Meyer was given a three-game suspension for his role in the controversy. When Meyer brought his spread offense from Utah to Gainesville, Florida, it proved to the rest of college football that exotic offenses can be successful when they are combined with the smash mouth style of the SEC. He tweeted Tuesday he is still committed to the Buckeyes.
"It has been an honor to represent for the last seven years this football program, my home state of OH, this university and community that I care so deeply about", Meyer said.
Florida State - Willie Taggart just finished his first season at Florida State and it resulted in the Seminoles 36-year bowl streak being snapped.
His final game with the Buckeyes will come at the Rose Bowl, a game he has never coached before.
"I thought he was very good in the classroom, teaching me the offense and the system, breaking it down and making it very simplistic where I would be able to understand it and translate it to the field", Murphy said. Ohio State appointed a special group to investigate the situation, and after several weeks determined that Meyer had not acted properly in keeping Smith on staff despite a history of troubling behavior and did not represent the school well when he failed to tell the truth while answering questions about Smith's past during Big Ten media days in late July.
There is plenty of caution - like hiring a guy who has just three games of head coaching experience - but Day's future is as bright as any assistant coach in the nation, so Ohio State just made a decision to keep him home and turn his future into theirs.
