"I am here to make decisions" - Solari on Isco being dropped

Gareth Bale and Lucas Vazquez both scored in the second half for Real.

Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente has said that he will reassess his future with the Spanish giants when the January transfer window comes around.

And it was the same old story on Tuesday night as Solari completely dropped Isco from his team to face AS Roma, not even including him on the bench.

Asked about the situation on Movistar TV after the game, Madrid director of institutional relations Emilio Butragueno said that "these are technical decisions which are for Solari to take, we do not get into them". The players are here to give everything and be at 100 percent so they can be picked.

Real Madrid was struggling early on, and it felt like the performance from the loss to Eibar last weekend had carried over. One clearance in the first half was miraculous and though Roma's rapid attackers caused Madrid problems in defence, the World Cup victor was solid.

The club are keen to continue their romance with the Champions League, a competition they have won four out of the last five seasons.

Cengiz Under produced a contender for the worst miss of the season late in Tuesday's first half, the Roma forward blasting a terrible effort over the crossbar from close range. The manager told us at half-time we needed to keep playing the way we know. "We got some confidence back and need to build on that now".

The £85m signing from Tottenham added: "It has been a bit of a turbulent start to the season but we have to keep fighting every game no matter what position we are in".

"That is football, it can be frustrating sometimes when things are not quite coming off", he said.

Real are sixth in the table and six points behind surprise leaders Sevilla in an unpredictable season so far. We are a young team, we need patience and have to earn a lot of experience.
