The Los Angeles Dodgers needed a 163rd game this season to capture the NL West division title, but they triumphed on the bonus day of baseball at Dodger Stadium. San Francisco scored four runs in the ninth inning at Dodger Stadium for the decisive victory of a three-game tiebreaker series for the 1962 pennant.

Not only the Dodgers NL West bragging rights, but they also advance to the best-of-five NLDS against the Atlanta Braves with home-field advantage. The loser will play either the Cubs or the Brewers in the NL Wild Card Game.

Cody Bellinger was 1-for-16 in his career against Rockies starter German Marquez entering his at-bat in the fourth inning. On the offensive side, the Dodgers have not been consistent at all this year but over the course of the last few games, there have been reasons to believe that they will turn it around for the postseason. The rookie finished the season with a 2.15 ERA against the Rockies over 37 2/3 innings and a 2.62 ERA overall in 137 1/3 innings.

Blackmon tripled in the first, homered in the third and singled in the fifth to help Colorado make quick work of the Nationals and force an extra game for the division crown.

Justin Turner and David Freese drove in the Los Angeles runs in the first inning before Kemp had a two-run double and Brian Dozier a two-run homer in the third, during which the Dodgers went up 9-0.

Of Colorado's 12 runs, three were driven in by Blackmon.

It was arguably the most dramatic setting for a game Colorado Rockies history.

The Rockies countered with one - count 'em - one hit off Buehler, a single by Charlie Blackmon to break up Buehler's no-hitter in the sixth. Los Angeles will have a rested bullpen for the game, and will start right-hander Walker Buehler.

But bad calls are nothing new to the NFL, part and parcel with the league's decisions on everything from domestic violence to the health of its own players to fumbled responses the exercising of first amendment rights, so missing a critical call at a pivotal moment in a regular season game kind of pales in comparison.

The Dodgers played their first tiebreaker since 1980, when they lost to Houston for the division title. The Chiefs remain undefeated at 4-0 on the year, while the Broncos fall to 2-2. He's had three previous match-ups with the Dodgers this season, going 2-0 with 22 strikeouts and giving up six earned runs in 21 innings pitched. He ended up missing five games. CarGo has had a nice bounce-back season after last year's season to forget.
