Pep Guardiola has provided injury updates on Manchester City duo Benjamin Mendy and Kevin De Bruyne.

The Catalan coach said: "He's played really well in the last games".

"Leroy was important, is important, and will be important for us, but our profession is so demanding, and we have to do every single day your best and of course in the last two or three games he was really good".

"We did great things last season.

I expect him back when he's fit, which should be quite soon".

The France worldwide is out with a foot injury and will miss Saturday's Premier League match against Brighton.

"Sergio is struggling a bit with some problems in his foot", Guardiola said. I know how they fight.

"With that spirit, the way we play, people are focused on the normal things - set-pieces, throw-ins, defence, what we're doing without the ball". "Now we have two games left before the worldwide break and hopefully he can do these two and then make a final recovery".

"I know what they did against [Manchester] United, and against Liverpool at Anfield", he said.

Liverpool beat City twice in the Champions League and in the league in January: 'I believe too much in that team, in those guys.

Star playmaker Ilkay Gundogan was the star of the show during Man City's win over Cardiff City last weekend. "Now he's injured I hope he recovers well because he's an important player for us", the Portuguese global told reporters.

Sane now has one goal and three assists to his name this season, having found the target 14 times and laid on 19 more across all competitions last term. They lost the first game in the Carabao Cup (against Chelsea last week) but at Anfield they score a lot of goals, they don't concede.

"Now it's Hoffenheim [on Tuesday in the Champions League], and after that we are going to prepare [for Liverpool], and after that we're going to prepare for Burnley". But it is just September, two games before the worldwide break will be so important for us, for the rest of the season.
