Chicago Bears: 10 bold predictions following Khalil Mack trade

The Chicago Bears made the big splash move over the weekend with the acquisition of All-Pro defensive end Khalil Mack from the Oakland Raiders.

Gruden, who came out of the broadcasting booth to return the Raiders to Super Bowl glory, discussed what this does to the team's chances of competing, and it doesn't sound like he wanted to trade Mack.

What?!? They still have to play the season? I don't blame Gurley, or any running back, for not wanting to absorb a tackle from the University of Buffalo great. Not only is he a good football player, but he's my best friend. Alongside Mack will be former Georgia stars Roquan Smith and Leonard Floyd, also Kentucky Wildcat Danny Trevathan. "It wasn't my goal to trade Khalil when we got here". We got people to show up, and it wasn't just the two of us.

"We only have the offseason study to go off of when (Nagy) was in Kansas City and the relationship there", McCarthy said. Understandably, after piling up 40.5 sacks over four seasons, winning a Defensive Player of the Year award, and being named First Team All-Pro twice, Mack wanted a new contract that would make him the highest paid defensive player.

"When we showed up here, we wanted to change the culture and show people what it meant to work, and I think we did that", Carr said. "I feel good about that". "Based on our study there will be some projection on how we think he'll use his players and tailor the scheme, concepts to the way he's done it in the past". JT talks about the numerous bold moves Jon Gruden has made since taking over the reigns in Oakland and the reasoning behind a team parting ways with their most talented player. One of the reasons I'm here is because of him", said Gruden, "Unfortunatley we had a standoff with the contract and we could not come to terms.

"We won't be able to win a ring together". That's the only thing we won't cross off the list. In the almost 200 years of combined football played by the two storied franchises - Sunday night's season opener at Lambeau Field kicks off the 100th season for the Packers and 99th for the Bears - only 87 players have suited up for both teams, according to Elias Sports Bureau. When the National Football League schedules were released back in April, a hard midseason stretch in November makes the need for a great start to the season even more important. Pace also signed wide receiver Allen Robinson from the Jaguars, tight end Trey Burton from the Eagles and brought back corners Prince Amukamara and Kyle Fuller, the latter of whom Brian Gutekunst attempted to sign in March.

While attempting to explain the trade to reporters on Sunday, Gruden repeatedly pointed to the $90 million in guaranteed money that the Bears gave Mack and said the Raiders offer wasn't close to that.
