Tiger Woods was named to the United States' Ryder Cup team on Tuesday as captain Jim Furyk also added veteran Phil Mickelson and in-form Bryson DeChambeau to his line-up. "I set out this year on really a strong commitment and journey to get on the team".

2018 Form: Cabrera-Bello has picked up six top-ten finishes whilst splitting his time between the PGA and European Tours, and he gave Bjorn a timely reminder of his abilities when tying for 7th in what was a loaded field at the Dell Technologies Championship last time out.

"I'm playing golf at the highest level and winning at the highest level", DeChambeau said.

He seems to have done that.

DeChambeau, who started the year at No. 99 in the world, moved to No. 7, one spot past Rory McIlroy. Australian Cameron Smith closed the gap with a pair of late birdies, but DeChambeau answered with a birdie on No. 15 to keep his lead at two shots.

The worldwide leaderboard included Japan's Hideki Matsuyama (final-round 65), Taiwan's C.T. Pan (66) and Tony Finau (68), who finished in a tie for fourth at 12 under, four shots off DeChambeau's lead. The small consolation for Ancer was moving from No. 92 to No. 56, which at least made him among the top 70 who advance to the BMW Championship at Aronimink.

In January, when Furyk asked Woods, 42, to be one of his vice captains, Woods was ranked 656th in the world, had not earned a single Ryder Cup point and had not played a PGA tour event in a year.

Furyk will announce his final captain's pick next Monday to complete the 12-man team. Finau tied a PGA Championship record with 10 birdies in the second round while playing with Furyk.

Woods, who has not played a Ryder Cup since 2012, revealed that he had set himself the target of making the USA team at the start of the season. He was also ninth in the Ryder Cup standings, narrowly missing out on automatic qualification. Justin Rose shot 65 and briefly pressured the victor before finishing tied for second with Rickie Fowler. "I think you have to look at the big picture through the course of the year statistically. Not one round. But it certainly doesn't hurt".

Furyk will make his fourth captain's choice selection at the conclusion of the BMW Championship, which is being held this week at Arnonimink Golf Club in Newtown Square.

On a day when the temperature reached 91 degrees at TPC Boston with a heat index of 100, Bryson DeChambeau proved to be the hottest golfer on the planet.
