This deal came to fruition Friday as the Raiders began listening to trade offers amid a contract impasse with Mack.
There are reports circulating that the Chicago Bears are finalizing a deal that will send the Oakland Raiders multiple first-round picks in exchange for edge rusher Khalil Mack. As Raiders players wake up to the news that defensive end Khalil Mack will be traded to the Bears, they're not happy, either. The 27-year-old is in the final season of his rookie contract and has established himself as one of the top defensive players in the league. He racked up 78 tackles and 10.5 sacks previous year, and registered 40.5 sacks in 64 career games with Oakland.
While he's considered one of the most dominant at his position, he isn't being paid like it.
The team's hope and target is Floyd being available for the season opener in Green Bay. Mack is a game-changing player, who would have been an instant upgrade for the Packers' defense.
Sources: The #Bears are giving 2 first-round picks to the #Raiders for star Khalil Mack. Instead, they chose to move on and let the Chicago Bears hand him a new contract. They're now without OLB Leonard Floyd (broken hand), arguably their best pass rusher. For now, though, we sit back and wait.
