Nvidia's Beefy New Graphics Card Will Cost £1099

Unfortunately, and since NVIDIA has not provided any performance figures in current-gen games that do not use ray tracing, we don't know how much faster the RTX2080Ti will be compared to the GTX1080Ti. That may be overstating things a bit - especially given that Nvidia's own United States website jumped the gun by posting photos, specs and pricing details before the official announcement. Let's get to it...

However, Metro Exodus is the game which is confirmed to use the Real Time Ray Tracing and will be taking full advantage of this new rendering technique from Nvidia.

This story is still developing, and specs on these graphics cards were not available at the time of writing.

The base variant, which is the RTX 2070 is capable of producing 8 Teraflops of power along with 6 Gigarays per second, this means it can compute 45 trillion simultaneous RTX operations. The RTX 2080 will jump from 2,560 to 2,944 CUDA cores, up 15 percent. A Founders Edition of the card runs at a top speed of 1,800MHz, while the vanilla card hits 1,710MHz. That's something in the region of an eight-fold improvement.

GeForce RTX will also support Deep Learning Super-Sampling (DLSS), which will be coming in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy XV, Ark: Survival Evolved, Hitman 2, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Serious Sam 4 and more. If true, this will be the biggest PC gaming graphics news since 2016.

The 2070 starts at $499, while the 2080 starts at $699, while the 2080 Ti starts at $999.

If that's a bit rich for you - and you'll likely need a 4K, 120hz monitor to make the most of it in many games - there's also the GTX 2080 which features 8GB of GDDR6 RAM and other slightly reduced specs and thh GTX 2070 - a weaker still card but still one that outstrips nearly everything on the market right now. Take Battlefield 5, for instance - the technology in the RTX series cards allows for enhanced detail. The wooden stock of your gun has low level, ray traced reflections on it, hell, even the watery eyes of your soldier seems to.

In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, meanwhile, the technology is being used for Shadows. The design is only broken up by an OMEN logo up front and a spacious side window that reveals all of the goodies powering your games.

But before we go on, ray-tracing for the uninitiated is a rendering technique that traces the path of light rays that illuminates an entire scene; that includes the reflection of reflections in reflections. There is no estimated date for the launch of the GTX 2070.

Of course, for users the main question is when the cards themselves will be available. MSI is really going all-out making sure that overclockers have enough power to play with: the RTX 2080 Gaming X Trio requires a pair of eight-pin power connectors, while the RTX 2080 Ti Gaming Trio requires two eight-pin connectors plus an additional six-pin connector. For now, you can preorder some of the models above. These cards have the same port cluster as the Gaming X Trio series cards, but they don't have the beefed-up power delivery.
