The daily says the 57-year-old actor had been headed to a film set on Tuesday when his motorbike was hit by a vehicle.

The 57-year-old Academy Award victor was traveling on a state road in Costa Corallina, a province of Olbia, when the crash occurred, TGCOM24 reported. The photo showed the car's windscreen smashed.

A picture from La Nuova suggests that Clooney hit a auto while on the motorway.

Clooney was taken by ambulance to the John Paul II hospital emergency room, but his injuries were not serious, NBC News reported. He has been in Sardinia since mid May, shooting TV series Catch 22, which he is directing and in which he also stars, alongside Hugh Laurie, Kyle Chandler and Christopher Abbott.

According to authorities, the accident occurred around 8 a.m. local time, when a Mercedes driving on the State Road 125 near Olbia did not respect the right of way and hit the actor. Local media that had gathered at the hospital said Clooney is believed to have left through a side exit.

Based on Joseph Heller's classic novel, it will be broadcast in the United Kingdom on Channel 4.

The vehicle driver called an ambulance which took Clooney to hospital, AGI added.

Sardinia is a large Italian island in the Mediterranean Sea and is over 500 miles from Clooney's villa in Lake Como.
