Trump, who is to meet Theresa May and the Queen among others before spending two days in Scotland, will only spend the night in London on Thursday, the day of his arrival, staying at the United States ambassador's official residence in Regent's Park, Winfield House.

The president will tour some of England's most impressive historic buildings before heading to Scotland, where he's expected to spend time on the golf course.

As busloads of anti-Trump protesters head to London on Friday morning, the US President and May will visit a defense site "to witness a demonstration of the UK's cutting-edge military capabilities and integrated UK-US military training", according to a spokeswoman for May.

The itinerary for Thursday and Friday confirms the US president will stay at the US Ambassador's House in Regent's Park overnight.

The US President also sparked a backlash from author JK Rowling, among others, when he lashed out at Khan immediately after a London terror attack previous year which killed seven people and left 48 injured.

Hosted by the Prime Minister, guests at the dinner will include leaders of United Kingdom business sectors including financial services, travel, creative industries, food and drink, engineering, tech, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals and defence. "But I would also say that I think the majority of British people understand the importance of the UK-US alliance".

It has vowed to gather near the USA ambassador's residence in London, where Trump and First Lady Melania Trump will stay Thursday night, and outside Blenheim Palace, wartime leader Winston Churchill's birthplace, which hosts the pair for dinner prior.

The event will begin with a military ceremony performed by the bands of the Scots, Irish and Welsh Guards.

"Prime ministers frequently make use of Chequers for meetings with foreign leaders", she told the publication.

Trump's postprandial departure will be accompanied by the Royal Regiment of Scotland playing the bagpipes, a tip of the hat perhaps to Trump's Scottish-German heritage.

He will not be visiting Downing Street.

As for Melania Trump, her spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, told USA TODAY she may have solo engagements during the visit but the details have not yet been confirmed.

"This is a real grassroots celebration for the US president", said Sullivan, who runs the conservative leaning think tank Parliament Street.

The US president will also meet with Queen Elizabeth at Windsor Castle in a suburb of London.

Trump's statement further irritated London, as many people and government officials asked May to withdraw her invitation to Trump to pay a state visit.

Briefing reporters on a conference call from the US Embassy in London, Mr Johnson played down the influence on the planning of Mr Trump's visit of the expected demonstrations, which will include a giant inflatable effigy of the president in a baby's nappy floating above Parliament.

The powwow between the two leaders, whose countries are the closest of allies, will come three days before Mr. Trump's summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki.

They will travel to Scotland that evening, where they will spend the weekend.
