Apparel sold on Walmart's website sparks outrage for its sentiment against President Trump.

The retailer (WMT, +0.98%) is facing calls for a boycott after supporters of President Donald Trump discovered a shirt for sale readying "Impeach 45".

These articles of clothing have ignited a rallying cry from the President's legion of supporters, who find the sloganeering to be disrespectful.

The clothing also sent social media into a frenzy and caused #BoycottWalmart to trend Tuesday.

CafePress has had "Impeach Trump" shirts, caps and throw pillows available on Walmart.com in the past as well, and still offers anti-Trump items along with pro-Trump items.

Old Glory, which was founded in 1969 and makes its T-shirts in Westbrook, Conn., received "a couple thousand" orders of the impeachment apparel on Tuesday alone, accounting for about half of the day's sales, Morelli said.

Fortune credits Ryan Fournier, chairman of Students for Trump, with the discovery of the t-shirts for sale and the call for a boycott that followed.

More than half of the stuff Amazon sold in 2017 came from third-party sellers, rather than Amazon itself, and Walmart saw its sales jump after it overhauled its marketplace. "We're removing these types of items pending review of our marketplace policies".

A spokesman for Walmart didn't immediately respond to requests for comment.

Since it went viral, Walmart removed them and all other "Impeach 45" merchandise from their online store.

When News4Jax searched the link the apparel was found on, it appeared to have been taken down.
