The python was killed and cut open to reveal what everyone had suspected: the missing woman. She was concerned about wild boars that had been raiding her fields lately.

Comr. Agung Ramos Paretongan Sinaga said the 54-year-old housewife disappeared on Thursday night, the last night of Ramadhan, after she went to inspect her corn plantation around 1 kilometer away from her house.

She found only Tiba's footprints, her flashlight, her machete and slippers.

This was really alarming.

On Friday, the villagers killed the swollen snake and dissected its stomach on the island of Muna, offshore of Sulawesi.

"Residents were suspicious the snake swallowed the victim, so they killed it, then carried it out of the garden", local police chief Hamka, who like many Indonesians has only one name, told the agency.

According to the reports, Wa Tiba's things were found in the area, causing suspicion that the snake might have swallowed her.

"The snake's belly was cut open and the body of the victim was found inside".

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) - A 7-meter-long (23-foot-long) python has swallowed a woman in central Indonesia, a village official said Saturday. Residents then suspected the snake swallowed Wa Tiba.

Graphic footage shared online shows dozens of people walking to the site of the dead python to witness its dissection.

Eye-witness Ayu Kartika said: "Everyone was crying, everybody was shocked". While minor attacks are common, snakes eating humans is rare.

Previous year a farmer was killed by a python on the village of Salubiro on the island of Sulawesi.
