The movie will explore the sacrifices and the cost - on Armstrong and on the nation - of one of the most risky missions in history.

The trailer shows the challenges that came with the Apollo 11 mission, as well as the toll it took on Armstrong and his family. It is Damien Chazelle's second film working with Gosling. Chazelle explains: "we wanted to tell the story about one of the most epic accomplishments in human history, but root it very much in the intimate and the day to day details of what it was actually like".
First Man has been given an October 12 release date by Universal Pictures, which is in the midst of one of the most crowded months of the year.
