To use new voting machines in primary elections

Voters, it's all up to you now.

Lucas County Board of Elections Director LaVera Scott said Monday that early voting numbers were far ahead of the 2014 gubernatorial primary.

Races for seats on county boards of commissioners, school boards and sheriffs dominate the ballot.

More than 35 General Assembly members and eight congressional incumbents are trying to advance through Tuesday's primary elections. DeWine, the party's endorsed candidate, has walked a more careful line on Trump in anticipation of needing to win a statewide election in politically divided OH in November.

The polls will be open from 6 a.m.to 6 p.m. on May 22, however, anyone in line to vote at 6 p.m. will still be allowed to do so.

Polls throughout OH closed at 7:30 p.m. Voters on Tuesday also decided a number of unusually competitive congressional and state legislative seats.

Voting was still underway at the county's 13 polling places when The Morgan Messenger went to print this week. Voters in these counties will also have the option to vote in person at any vote center.

Unlike the fall general election, in which registered voters make a choice for all races on the ballot, casting a ballot in primaries is determined based on the party registration of the voter.

Certifying election results and inputting voter information into a database are two separate processes, Brown said.

The extra time would apply in situations such as defeat of a government in a non-confidence vote, and Archer said that could reduce costs linked to last-minute rentals and rushed shipments of supplies and also give candidates more time to correctly file their nomination papers.

Although commissioner candidates live in specific districts, they run countywide, so Wake County voters who cast a Democratic ballot will have a say in all five races.


"I think it's a great recommendation", he said of the call to pre-register underage but otherwise qualified electors on the voters list.

Countywide early voting will begin on Saturday, May 19 through Saturday until June 2. Once you're registered to vote, on June 5, head to your local poll to cast your votes.

Pre-paid return postage is provided for all ballots returned by mail to the Election Office.
