Police investigating 'unexplained' death of TV star Dale Winton

IN THE HOURS that followed Dale Winton's death yesterday, messages of condolence flooded social media platforms, with his peers in the entertainment industry leading the heartfelt tributes.

Now, it has emerged that the Supermarket Sweep star sold his central London townhouse for £2.6 million just weeks before his death.

"I always thought, "get over yourself".

Winton's long-term agent Jan Kennedy asked for the star's grieving family's privacy to be respected.

"I'll remember him as being fun and fabulous", she said.


Details surrounding his death have not been released.

He died at his home yesterday after a long period of ill health. I wanted to withdraw but you know what this business is like.

Presenter Jonathan Ross said: "Dale Winton was a real sweetheart".

In 2000, Winton took over from Alan Freeman to present Pick of the Pops on BBC Radio 2, [15] and hosted the show until 30 October 2010, when Tony Blackburn replaced him.


His most recent TV presenting duty saw him due to host Channel 5 travel series Dale Winton's Florida Fly Drive, which began airing earlier this year.

Winton, who came out as gay in his 2002 autobiography, spoke about his battle with depression in 2016 after a spell out of the limelight.
