Sean Hannity, Jimmy Kimmel feud is officially over

Hannity used his show to sling mud, calling Kimmel an "ass clown" and a "disgrace".

Hannity took exception. The two exchanged barbs through the week. The war of words escalated with Hannity posting old clips of Kimmel from "The Man Show" and calling him "Harvey Weinstein jr".

He said "vile attacks" were made against his wife as a result of his jokes, and he received "wishes for death" against his baby son. "I, too, will give my words more thought and recognize my role in inciting their hatefulness".

In his apology on Sunday, Kimmel wrote, "By lampooning Sean Hannity's deference to the President, I most certainly did not intend to belittle or upset members of the gay community and to those who took offense, I apologize". They needled each other for their ratings: Kimmel is third behind Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Fallon among late-night comics, while Hannity lost his cable news ratings lead to Rachel Maddow last month.

Hannity responded Monday on his show, saying, "On the surface, to be honest, it feels more like a forced Disney corporate apology directed more towards the LBGTQ community rather than about Kimmel's comments about the First Lady".

All of the major late-night show hosts use the Trump World as their favoured comedic fodder. Leave the women and the children alone, he told Kimmel. "About dis and dat", he said, laughing. But I meant what I said, unfair attacks-there needs to be an end to this. "You could be first lady of the United States". Should Kimmel restart the feud, Hannity informed him that his producers have plenty of unflattering footage of the ABC host that is right now safe in storage. And only grew more unfortunate when Kimmel then tweeted at the Fox News host, "Don't worry - just keep tweeting - you'll get back on top!"

The spat continued on Twitter, where in one sexually suggestive tweet on Friday, Kimmel mocked Hannity's devotion to US President Donald Trump.

Watch above, via Fox News. He also reminded Hannity that he'd been a supporter of Alabama senate candidate Roy S. Moore, who was accused my multiple women of sexual misbehavior. And as far as what he viewed as being disrespectful of the first lady, Kimmel said: "Cheating on her with a porn star after she has a baby". "But now that Trump is president", Kimmel suggested, "Sean Hannity is unable to have anything but an erection".
