Played the first matches of the 1/4 finals of the Europa League.

"(Juanfran) will be available for selection for this Thursday's match against Sporting CP in Wanda Metropolitano", the La Liga club said in a statement.

Fast starts propelled three of tonight's home teams to first-leg victories in the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals, with Atlético Madrid particularly quick off the mark through Koke's goal after just 22 seconds. Find us on Facebook too!

Both scorers took advantage of sloppy defending, with Diego Costa setting up Koke for the opener while Griezmann capitalised on an error by fellow Frenchman Jeremy Mathieu to fire a crisp low shot into the bottom corner.

Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey and France striker Alexandre Lacazette scored two goals each for Arsenal, cancelling out a superb free kick by CSKA's midfielder Aleksandr Golovin at the Emirates stadium.

Arsenal then restored its lead as Lacazette converted a penalty in the 23rd minute after Mesut Ozil was fouled.

Following a disappointing season that sees the Gunners occupy sixth place in the English Premier League, way behind the race for one of the four Champions League berths, the Europa League is the club's last chance of a trophy.

"We have done half of a job", added Wenger. Atleti, among the favourites to win the competition, were more dominant than the score would indicate and only some outstanding moments from Sporting goalkeeper Rui Patricio kept the game from turning into a rout on Thursday, reports Efe.

Marco Parolo backheeled the Serie A side back into the lead before Takumi Minamino levelled seconds after coming off the bench.

RB Leipzig triumphed over Marseille 1-0, with Liverpool target and Germany forward Timo Werner scoring, while Lazio gave two away goals to Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg, ultimately winning 4-2.
