"The Hon'ble Supreme Court of India appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) on Wednesday took cognizance of the developments in the ball tampering incident involving Cricket Australia contracted cricketers - Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft", the BCCI said.

"The concerned IPL franchises will be allowed replacement players".

Australian cricket players, Steve Smith and David Warner have been forbidden from participating in the 11th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) this year.

After Smith and Bancroft admitted that they had attempted to alter the condition of the ball on the third day of the third Test against South Africa in Cape Town, it emerged that Warner had also played a role in the incident.

Warner is the captain of the Sunrisers and had led them to title triumph in 2016.

With CA set to hand out 12-month bans from worldwide cricket for Smith, the captain, and Warner, his deputy, their participation in the IPL had always been in doubt. Ajinkya Rahane will lead the team.

Warner, whose relationship with teammates has hit rock bottom in recent days, may never play for his country again.

With the CA announcing the ban, SRH took the first step by relieving him off the captaincy and later on the afternoon, the BCCI too barred the players from playing the IPL.

Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland revealed on Tuesday that Smith, vice-captain Warner and Bancroft were the only members of the touring party involved in the plot. CA, who are conducting an investigation into the much-publicized row, are expected to come up with the official announcement soon, according to ESPNCricinfo. Even a year ago, Bhuvi took control of the bowling department of Sunrisers and used to have regular conversations with young bowlers like Siddharth Kaul and Mohammad Siraj. "If CA goes ahead and bans them, there is no way that the IPL franchises can accommodate them, just like Andre Russell had to skip the IPL after he was caught violating doping clauses." the BCCI source said, according to the report. Well, why not? Root may not be the flashiest batsmen around, but packs qualities very similar to Smith's - a strike rate close to 130 and an astute mind of a leader on the field. The captaincy contest is going to be between Shikhar Dhawan and New Zealand Skipper Kane Williamson. "David Warner will not be considered for team leadership positions in the future".
