The Sun had an exclusive video of the aftermath of the crash, with Ant being arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

"After another barnstorming episode of "#Saturday Night Takeaway" this weekend featuring the super-talented #Geordie duo Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, the country woke up on Monday to the shocking news that Ant had been arrested after being involved in a three-car accident.

Ant has confirmed he will be stepping back from his TV duties as he reenters rehab, leaving Dec without a presenting partner for the foreseeable future.

After video footage of him ploughing his auto into another vehicle went viral yesterday, Ant McPartlin of Ant & Dec fame is stepping down from his ITV show to seek treatment for his addiction issues.

The much-loved TV duo will be a member down in the final two shows of ITV's Saturday Night Takeaway which are scheduled for 31 March and 7 April.

'We made a promise to take hundreds of deserving winners to Florida to watch the series finale, and we will honour that.

Dec has released a heartfelt twitter message revealing that the close-knit pair felt "that they owed it to the fans to complete the series".

It's not yet clear if Dec will be joined by a replacement co-host.

Ant's troubles first came to light a year ago when he revealed he was entering rehab to recover from prescription drug and alcohol addictions he developed following a painful knee operation.

"I never thought the show would be in doubt but now that this week's show has been cancelled, I'm not convinced it'll be back on air".

This latest disaster comes hot on the heels of Ant's recent spell in rehab after admitting to an addiction to painkilling drugs and alcohol.

Speaking on Wednesday's Good Morning Britain, the outspoken host said that it's time that Dec broke the pact with his childhood pal for the sake of his career.

In fact, she's already the bookies' favourite to take over presenting duties, having been with the show for two years.

"I've spoken out because I think it's important that people ask for help if they're going through a rough time and get the proper treatment to help their recovery".
